Can You Recover Deleted Screenshots on an iPhone?
Yes, you can! When you delete a screenshot or photo from your iPhone’s Camera Roll, it ends up in a specific folder, where it will stay for 30 days before being permanently removed.
1. Open the Photos app.
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and tap Recently Deleted.
3. All of the photos you’ve deleted in the past 30 days will appear here. At the bottom of each image’s thumbnail, you’ll see how many days a photo has left before being automatically deleted.
4. Tap an image to view it more closely. Tap Recover to send it back to your Camera Roll.
Can I Restore Deleted Screenshots?
You can do this, too. Any previously deleted images in your iPhone’s Recently Deleted folder can be recovered and added back to your Camera Roll.
1. Open the Photos app.
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the menu and tap Recently Deleted.
3. Find the image you want to restore (depending on how long ago the image was deleted, you may have to scroll up to find it). Tap and hold the image to expand the thumbnail.
4. Tap Recover to immediately send the image back to your Camera Roll. You’ll be able to find it in the Recents folder.
5. You can tap an image (instead of tapping and holding) to view it more closely. From here, you can pinch to zoom in or out, tap Recover to send it to your Camera Roll, or tap Delete to permanently remove the image from your iPhone (this cannot be undone).
6. When you tap Recover, a verification button will appear. Tap Recover Photo to confirm and send the image back to your Camera Roll or tap Cancel to stop recovery.
Are Deleted Screenshots Gone Forever?
Well, yes and no. Images deleted from your iPhone’s Camera Roll will be moved to the Recently Deleted folder but are still accessible for up to 30 days from the time you select Delete.
Once those 30 days have passed, you decide to clear the Recently Deleted folder, or you manually delete an image in that folder, it’s gone for good, and you won’t be able to recover it.
How to Recover Deleted Photos on iPhone ?
We've all accidentally deleted a photo from our iPhone that we needed to save. Depending on a few things, you can recover deleted photos on your iPhone. Here's what you need to know. Instructions apply to all iPhone and iPod touch models with iOS 8 or later and using the pre-installed Photos app.
Recover Deleted Photos on the iPhone
Apple built a feature into iOS that lets you recover deleted photos. The Photos app has a Recently Deleted photo album. This stores your deleted photos for 30 days, giving you time to restore them before they're gone for good. If you deleted the photo you want to recover in the last 30 days, follow these steps to get it back:
1. Tap the Photos app to launch it.
2. Go to the Albums tab, then tap Recently Deleted.
3. Tap Select, tap the photos you want to save, then tap Recover.
4. In the pop-up menu, tap Recover Photo.
5. After you recover the photo, it will be returned to your photo library and any other albums it was stored in before it was deleted.
Other Ways to Recover Deleted Photos on iPhone
Photos stay in the Recently Deleted album for 30 days before they leave the phone for good. If you missed that 30-day window, there are still some options for recovering deleted photos. These methods are less of a sure thing, they but offer a potential way to restore photos if you don't find them in the Recently Deleted album.
Desktop Photo Programs
If you sync the photos from the iPhone to a desktop photo management program such as Photos on the Mac, that program may have a copy of the photo you want to get back. If you find the photo there, add it back to the iPhone by syncing it through iTunes, adding it to iCloud Photo Library, or emailing or texting it to yourself, then save it to the iPhone Photos app.
Cloud-Based Photo Tools
If you use a cloud-based photo tool, there may be a backed-up version of the photo there. You have a lot of options in this category, including iCloud and Dropbox. Also, check social networks such as Instagram, Flickr, Twitter, and Facebook, if you posted the image to one of your feeds. If the photo you need is there, download it to the iPhone to get it back.
Third-Party Data Recovery Tools
Some third-party programs let you dig into the iPhone file system to find hidden files, browse deleted files that are still hanging around, or comb through old backups. Because dozens of these programs exist, it can be hard to assess their quality. Spend some time with your favorite search engine to find programs and read reviews. Most of these tools cost money, but some may be free.
Restore Your iPhone
When you back up an iPhone, it saves the pictures in the Camera Roll. You can get photos you lost by restoring the device from an earlier backup. Choose a backup that occurred before the pictures were deleted. NOTE: Restoring the device from backup also removes all other changes you made since the backup was created, so you may lose something else you need. Probably not a good trade-off for just one photo.
How to Recover or Undelete a Photo on the iPad ?
This article explains how to recover a deleted photo on iPadOS 14, iPadOS 13, and iOS 12 through iOS 8.
How to Retrieve a Deleted Photo ?
The Recently Deleted album holds deleted photos for 30 days before permanently deleting them from the iPad. Each photo is labeled with the number of days before it is permanently deleted.
1. Tap the Photos app on the iPad Home screen or launch it quickly using Spotlight Search.
2. Tap Albums at the bottom of the screen. In recent iPadOS versions, it is located in the left sidebar.
3. In the Albums screen, go to the Other Albums section, then tap Recently Deleted.
4. Tap the photo you want to restore.
5. Tap Recover and then tap Recover Photo to undelete the image.
You can also permanently delete a selected photo by tapping the Delete button. There is no going back from this selection. Only use it if you know you definitely don't want the photo stored on the device.
How to Recover Multiple Photos ?
Instead of selecting a single photo, tap the Select button located in the upper-right corner of the Recently Deleted screen to enable the multiple selection mode. Tap each photo you want to restore and then tap the Recover link at the top of the screen. You can also permanently delete multiple photos using this method.
Do You Have My Photo Stream Turned On?
Apple has two photo-sharing services for its devices. The iCloud Photo Library service uploads photos to iCloud, which makes it easy to download the photo on another device such as an iPhone. When you delete a photo from your iPad or iPhone, it also deletes it from iCloud Photo Library.
My Photo Stream is the other service provided by Apple. Instead of uploading the photos to a library of files on iCloud, it uploads them to the cloud and then downloads the photos on each device automatically. This is important because photos deleted on one device may still exist on one of your other devices if you have My Photo Stream turned on in the iPad settings.
If you cannot locate a deleted photo in the Recently Deleted album and have My Photo Stream turned on, check your other devices for a copy of the image.
